Base cabinets

This contemporary interpretation of the classic Mizuya Tansu Kitchen Chest is the backbone of the Japanese Industrial Kitchen.

The Mizuya Kitchen Counter features clean, contemporary lines, and is heavily influenced by the Japanese idea of wabi sabi. It features specially selected woods that highlight the grain, and hand-forged iron or brass hardware.

These natural materials speak for themselves, and are contrasted beautifully by modern stainless steel appliances and concrete, marble, and granite countertops.

Like all our kitchen pieces, the Counter's storage system is a combination of pull-out drawers, and Japanese-style sliding doors. And like all the pieces in our collection, it is available in your choice of stain and hardware.

There are several layouts available, all in custom sizes, so you can plan your kitchen the way you've always imagined it. You can combine the solid wood base cabinets with our pantries and cupboards, and hang upper cabinets above.

Design

The design sprung from a customer's idea -- why not take one of the pieces of our Mizuya Pantry, and use it as a counter? We tried it out -- changed the layout to make it the most efficient for Western kitchens, and the Mizuya Counter was born.

From there the Japanese Industrial Kitchen evolved to tackle even the most complex kitchen projects. Several layouts were made to match each of our customers needs, and they are now available as a standard line. Of course, you can still choose custom sizes and layouts, so feel free to email us with your ideas.
