Antique Dark Isho Kasane Chest

This antique three drawer Tansu was handcrafted from kiri wood using traditional Japanese joinery techniques (no use of nails or glue), and then darkly stained to highlight the dramatic grain.
An array of hand-forged iron borders, locking plates and warabite handles add an elegant yet powerful presence.
Its size makes it ideal as a bedside or end table, and it is light enough to be moved easily using the dual ring lifts on both sides of the piece.
