Hand-crafted from the Kiri wood, this isho kasane dansu features four deep drawers in two separate units. These two units can either be stacked as shown using the side lifts or placed back to back as a unique and beautiful coffee table.
A pair of hand-forged gumpai (military fan) pulls are used to access the drawers, which are accented with sumikanagu (drawer corner hardware). The solid jomae (locking plates) feature a simple geometric design.
The heavy use of kanagu (hand etched iron sheets) indicates that this tansu was commissioned for a very successful merchant. These iron accents provide a stunning contrast of natural materials against the delicate Kiri wood grain which is displayed throughout the piece.
