The Square Maru Dining Table is the newest addition to the Maru collection. Like our other Maru tables, it is constructed from 3-inch thick boards of Asian Pine that are reclaimed from classic Korean farmhouses.

You can get a closer look at the the table top and the sturdiness of the design in the extra images.

Seating two to four people, the size of the table makes it ideal for the kitchen. The beautiful wood grain is filled with intricate detail yet remarkably smooth to the touch.

Prices indicated for table only, chairs and other furniture sold separately.

Table for One

Not all meals are suited to the grand dining room in fact housing and architecture trends indicate the formal dining room is seriously on the outs.

Most of our meals are simply not full-scale family affairs, but an intimate nosh for one or two. In fact a recent survey determined that 40 percent of all the meals taken by American adults are eaten alone.

So let’s celebrate these quiet meals. Solo meals can be wonderful opportunities for discovery: truly savoring food, undistracted by a boisterous crowd; a much-needed respite from the busy-ness of the daily grind; some time to simply enjoy the feeling of being nourished.

We can help make these precious moments count by making a conscious choice to be present when we eat. And these moments will be all the more pleasurable when we choose good food, take the time to set the table and set all those gadgets aside. Pay attention to the big things and the lovely little details. Psychologists and stylists alike assert that we shouldn’t underestimate how far little details to prepare a space will go to creating a perfect atmosphere for rejuvenation.

Using a smaller dining table can provide a certain air of warmth and closeness, of comfortable quietness, making it ideal for mealtime intimacies between two and quality alone time. Set it in a cozy corner in the kitchen, or that perfect spot near the bedroom window that brings you the morning sunshine or the glittering nighttime sights. Bon appétit!
