This stunning Taisho era clothing chest features a magnificent chrysanthemum motif, hand forged hardware and traditional mokko (melon) drawer pulls.
Hiding behind the hinged and locking door on the lower right are two small drawers known as safe drawers.
This configuration along with the chrysanthemum motif and sash hardware is typical of Sado Island design. Constructed of kiri wood, the two pieces of this chest could also be placed back to back to create a unique coffee table.
