This antique Mizuya Tansu features two display compartments, a storage compartment, and five drawers.

The two top compartments are accessible by sliding glass doors, the larger of which features a meticulous cutout.

The bottom slatted compartment is ideal for accommodating larger items.

The main focus of this piece however are the stunning burl drawers. They have a vibrant red color, and an intense wood grain that seems to pop out at you.

Like all antique tansu, the sides, top, bottom and back are also finished beautifully.

The antique hutches and china cabinets we have acquired were such pieces, originating in China in the early 1900’s. The hutch and china cabinet has been and continues to be a fixture in many homes around the world. Filled with the finest china and handcrafted by the best artisans, it is a pillar of pride for its owner.

The motion of the wood sliding on wood of this traditional hutch is very smooth and plenty of room is provided in each of the drawers.

The hardware is forged by hand and has a beautiful patina from its years of use.

The wood used throughout the piece has been chosen for its unique qualities, such as its strength, resistance to warping and cracking from changes in humidity and, of course, the texture and pattern of its wood grain.

Beautiful carvings adorn the windowed doors adding an extra element of visual interest to this hutch.
