The interior compartments are divided by a vertical shelf placed in the center of the cabinet. This shelf is structurally required. By default a horizontal shelf is also included on one side -- if you'd like to add more shelves, simply let us know.

• All our kitchen islands are double-sided, with the doors and drawers accessible from either side.
• The solid wood drawers run the depth of the unit, so if you pull a drawer on one side, it gets pushed from the other.
