The 4 Drawer Mizuya Kitchen Island is an ideal size for most kitchens, and is available in 6, 6.5 and 7 foot lengths. All our islands are double sided allowing easy access to the storage inside.
The photo to your left shows the island with a sink and countertop. Countertops are not included, it is recommended that you get one built locally. Our in-house carpenter can build a hole in the cabinet for a sink, but by default this is not included.
Made of solid beams of reclaimed hard wood, its sliding doors and drawers are accessible from both sides.
The 4 pull-out drawers are ideal for cutlery, kitchen tools, placemats and napkins, while the sliding doors are great for pots, pans and larger items.
We can also custom build your kitchen island. Want to make changes to the layout or size? Just let us know, and we can discuss your project in detail.
Stock islands are available with your choice of wood, stain and hardware.
Add an overhang and pull up a bar stool to turn it into a practical dining area.

Once the espresso machine and kitchen mixer’s got their prized permanent positions out on the counter where was the actual food prep to take place? The serious home cook was in some serious trouble.
The answer to these troubles it turned out was the kitchen island, a relatively new piece of kitchen furniture. This counter topped, stand-alone kitchen island quickly established itself as the new heart of the home as open concept layouts rose in popularity in the 90s. Arguably the open concept scheme really helped transform home cooking: cooking became part of the hospitality on offer, part of the entertaining, as guests gathered around.
Not only was there suddenly room to whip up a grand feast, there was a new place for families to gather for quick meals, for homework to get done under watchful eyes, for family meetings to happen, both the scheduled and impromptu. The kitchen island is a hardworking piece of furniture, perhaps the hardest in the home.
While kitchen islands were really first devised by kitchen designers to up the counter space, today islands can be customized to accommodate appliances and plumbing and can double the amount of kitchen storage in a space.
And while added utility to the kitchen island makes the whole space that much more functional, the island is a wonderful place to add some character and warmth to your space. After all it will be the focal point of the kitchen, if not your main living space.
