Wedding season is upon us.  Luckily, a summer of weddings to attend can hold a few more surprises than it used to. Many couples are creating custom celebrations, with every detail designed to reflect their personalities, often using hand crafted elements to ensure their day is one of a kind. Here are some inspired weddings that are quirky, crafty and just plain fabulous. Even if you’re not planning a wedding, or you’re already married, you may still find plenty of inspiration here for your next big soiree.

Paper blossoms and circles adorn a simple arbor in this crafty Florida wedding. The bride used thrift shop scores and her crafty skills to fashion a romantic wedding that is charming and casual. Instead of the usual tiered cake they had pies on vintage cake stands and other homemade treats.

Party Tip: Go Tableux

If you’re planning an outdoor wedding or party creating small intimate seating areas with candles that guests can stumble upon throughout the evening is a good way to create ambience.

How amazing would it be to get married in a treehouse?  That’s what this couple did and the rest of their wedding was just as unique. Their reception tables were a mix of vintage tableware, greenery in mason jars and eclectic linens and homemade donuts. Not what you typically think of when it comes to wedding decor but for an unfussy brunch reception it makes sense.

Party Tip: Mix and Match

Setting the table with unexpected centrepieces and mismatched dishes can sometimes create a more pleasing effect than an perfectly coordinated table setting. Before your next party have a look around your house and see if there are things you can repurpose as vases or dishes.

I am a huge fan of the Harry Potter series but I’ll be the first to admit that a Harry Potter themed wedding could easily be all kinds of horrible, but the Hogwarts themed weddings featured in Bridal Guide had me believing in magic. The attention to detail these couples put into their special days leave me speechless.

Party Top: Don’t Hold Back

If you’re going to do a themed party my advice is to pull out all the stops. If you do too little people won’t be able to tell what your theme is, and they may just wind up confused. Feel free to go a little over the top, it will make your event more memorable.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!
